Homemade, Hearty Food from Carolyn’s Meals

We decided to put our money where our mouth is and support local. Myself and my collegue Martyna decided to give Carolyn’s Kitchen a try.

Carolyn’s Kitchen provides homemade ready meals including soups, main courses and puddings and delivered throughout Dundee and some areas in Angus. With meals like macaroni cheese, cottage pie and lasagne, this was exactly the kind of homemade, hearty meals we were looking for.

The meals were delivered to the door by Carolyn herself – she rang the bell, left the food on the doorstep and waited from a safe distance to make sure it was picked up, maintaining social distancing at all times. All the meals came in individual portions and I had requested for some of them to be frozen on arrival.

On the first evening I gave the macaroni cheese a try, one of my all time favourite meals. A quick blast in the microwave and it was ready. It was delicious! The perfect amount of cheesyness and just like my Mum used to make for me.

Throughout the week I tried the lasagne, cottage pie and stovies. All were filling, tasty and the perfect portion size.

I also sampled the apple crumble which was delicious! I decided to leave one of the apple crumble portions a the door for my elderly neighbour and he also thoroughly enjoyed.

For me the best thing about these meals is how easy they are to simply heat up and also the price is very reasonable. It £11.50 for 4 meals and you can also get smaller portions at £9 for 4. This would make it absolutely perfect for an elderly relative and you could rest assured knowing they were eating good home cooked meals.
